January 1 always swings in with celebrations and resolutions. We start off the month on a wave of optimism, energy, and goals for the coming year. Finish novel! Rewrite short story! Publish book series and stop eating sugar!
But then reality sets in, and post holiday exhaustion, and the WEATHER. By mid-January we’re hunkered down under a pile of blankets with a good book, and maybe that’s the best place to be. (Stephen King may be on to something.) Instead of kicking ourselves for not striving towards insane writing goals—what if reading was the new writing goal?
To kick off the new year we’re sharing the books (and beverages) we’ve been enjoying this winter.
