One night. One author. One focused study of the craft.
We’re pleased to welcome best-selling author Benjamin Dreyer to the studio for this single-session master class on the art of the copyedit. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to study with a master for an evening of close reading and in-depth discussion.
In this single-session master class, Benjamin Dreyer, longtime copy chief of Random House and New York Times bestselling author of Dreyer’s English, will illuminate the art (and craft) of copyediting as he has performed it for decades, breaking down the process, from the basics of punctuation to larger issues of style and clarity, to enable writers to assess and improve their own work.
Are you afraid of the semicolon? Are you overeager to depict your characters nodding, shrugging, and staring into the middle distance? Do you wrestle with tense, particularly when it’s time to get into—and get out of—a flashback?
Good copyediting is an art, but it’s also a highly practical matter, and Dreyer will reveal and share the myriad tricks he’s tucked up his sleeve. You’ll be a better writer by the time you walk out the door.
The class will include a Q&A.
