Description of Class
By tapping into the age-old formula that begins as “once upon a time” and continues with “and then one day,” anyone can compose a riveting story about a major or minor incident that changed their lives.
In this single-session workshop led by novelist David Hicks, you will begin several such stories, either as nonfiction or fiction, and structure one of them from beginning to end.
You will leave the workshop with a starting draft of a new essay, memoir chapter, story, or novel—along with the framework of two more—and a much better understanding of how stories and character development work.
Be sure to check out David in conversation with essayist David Lazar and host Suzanne Clores at Chicago’s Riverview Tavern on September 24. You can also find him on Twitter and Facebook.Top
