Description of Class
Hooray, you have a book deal, or your book is even out in the world—so why does it feel like someone’s strapped you to a rollercoaster and fed you a cocktail of morphine and speed? What are you supposed to do with yourself now? How can you support the book when it’s out of your hands? How can you convince friends to come to your readings without annoying them? Why didn’t your aunt buy your book? How can you ever start another project?
In this three-hour class led by award-winning author Rebecca Makkai, we’ll talk publicity, readings, festivals, bookseller relations, travel, online presence, and strategies for keeping your book alive. We’ll also discuss mental health, community, dealing with reviews, and the next steps for your overall career.
This course will be relevant to those with traditionally published books of any genre (from large and small presses alike)—either those appearing soon, or for books already out.
Please note: This class is not intended for authors of self-published books. Please stay tuned for future tailored offerings!Top
