Bring your drafts to the table and join the Loop!
All writers need honest, constructive feedback to improve their work. In this new 8-week class, the focus is on producing pages, getting input from other writers, and making revisions.
Output, input, and action: The Feedback Loop!
Each week, different students will distribute their work for careful consideration by their classmates and the instructor. You may submit stories, essays, or excerpts of longer projects, new pieces or revisions. Writers of fiction and nonfiction are welcome.
Students return the following week to discuss the piece, sharing their ideas about what’s working well and opportunities to strengthen the draft. Every writer leaves the session with written comments from their peers and the instructor, and concrete suggestions to explore in revision.
Writers can choose to revise the piece and submit the draft again, or submit a new draft for consideration. Either way, all students will have the opportunity for two rounds of feedback, and class discussions will focus on strategies for how to approach revision, so that you’ll have a clear plan of action for future drafts.
The class is perfect for writers who have drafts ready for feedback and have previous writing experience, or have taken a course such as Creative Writing Essentials or Creative Writing II: Finish the Story.
Stay in the Loop this winter! Your writing will benefit from the exchange of ideas, the supportive environment, the deadlines to produce, and the tools to keep the cycle going.
