Description of Class

This will redirect to our new (safe, secure!) transaction system. Don’t worry, you’re in the right place!

One night. One author. One focused study of the craft.

We’re pleased to welcome author Kim Brooks to the studio for this single-session master class on using in-person conversations to enrich your writing. Take advantage of this unique opportunity to study with a master for an evening of close reading and in-depth discussion.

Research can be intimidating to the writer, especially if it’s seen as something done in dusty stacks. Fortunately, one of the best methods of research for creative writing is simply talking to people, asking questions, listening to what the people around you have to say and also how they say it.

In this course we’ll learn how to use interviews, conversations, eavesdropping, and anecdote to enrich our own writing. Through close readings, prompts, discussion, and generative writing exercises, we’ll explore the important role that storytelling and oral history can play in creative writing.
