Writing may be a solitary act, but we know how much more pleasant it is when you have a network of people and groups to keep you focused. StoryStudio Chicago is part of an amazing community of writing and storytelling partners to help you along.
Join us for Open Houses, Write-ins, panel discussions, special events, retreats, and parties (yes, sometimes we just like to party). These are great opportunities to expand your writers circle, meet up with old friends, and get some writing done.
Live Lit & Performing Your Stories
The Live Lit scene is exploding in Chicago– and around the country– and StoryStudio is right at the heart of it! Every night of the week you can participate in a performance series featuring fiction, flash fiction, personal narrative, essays, poetry, and writing we don’t even know how to categorize. Dozens of shows have sprung up in taverns, bookstores, and theaters that enable writers and performers of all skill levels to explore every style of performed original writing.
Want to be a part of it? Want to interact with your audience and see the immediate affects of your words? Want to feel the electricity of your words bringing energy to the crowd?
Just ask us about how to take a Live Lit class at StoryStudio or how to perform around town.
As part of the StoryStudio family you’ll have the inside scoop on who is coming to town and how to meet your favorite author.
We’ve been proud to co-host book release parties and readings for many of our talented instructors. And, each year we present alongside hundreds of writers at the Chicago Tribune Printers Row Literary Fest. And of course, we love our local independent bookstores, which are a treasure trove of events, author readings, and great literary lovers.
