Ian Belknap is a Chicago writer/performer and founder/curator/host of WRITE CLUB, the world's greatest competitive reading series. WRITE CLUB has monthly shows in Chicago, Atlanta, and San Francisco, and Los Angeles, and there are more cities on the way. WRITE CLUB has been invited to perform at MCA, Smart Museum, Poetry Foundation, Chicago Humanities Festival, and Printers Row Lit Fest, among many other venues/festivals. Ian’s work has been featured in the live lit shows Guts & Glory, This Much is True, Here, Chicago, Essay Fiesta, Fictilicious, and Truth or Lie, among many others. He is on the masthead of The Paper Machete as the Dean of Mean, is a recurring cast member of the podcast Pleasuretown, and is co-editor with Lindsay Muscato of Bare-Knuckled Lit: The Best of WRITE CLUB. Ian has created full-length solo shows that have appeared in Rhino Theater Fest, at Den Theatre, the Neo-Futurists, and elsewhere. Ian has taught workshops in several cities, has appeared on many panels and presented at conferences, and has appeared as a guest lecturer at Columbia College Chicago and DePaul University.
