Words for Work: Business Writing Fundamentals

Tuesday, November 1, 2011

We all have to write at work. Memos, emails, proposals, websites, newsletters, even progress reports: regardless of who you are, or where you are on your career continuum, writing has an impact on your success at work.

Good writing - snappy, functional, informative, professional – can mean making the sale or getting the attention of a new audience. Bad writing, on the other hand, can leave you spinning your wheels in professional limbo.

Using techniques of fiction and creative non-fiction, StoryStudio teaches participants to be confident and creative, improving their efficiency and persuasiveness in written communications.

Our unique one-day seminar will help you:

  • Face down the blank page and get started, using journalistic and fiction-writing techniques to unlock the writer within you.
  • Understand “calls to action” and learn strategies for memo and letter writing.
  • Learn which questions to ask before you start writing.
  • Move into the right frame of mind to tell your “story”.
  • Learn what to look for when revising and editing to take your project from a first draft to a shiny, finished masterpiece.

Unlike any other writing workshop, StoryStudio’s Business Writing Fundamentals class offers small class instruction with a high level of student interaction. This, along with solid writing craft combine to help you tell your corporate story.

You’ll receive the added bonus of individual instructor attention and editing assistance on a current project brought straight from your desk at work.
