Business Writing Coaching offers personalized instruction to help you improve grammar, punctuation, and overall clarity in your written communications. Often, students have a particular project they would like to work on during coaching sessions. For students who have a general desire to improve overall written communications, we can develop a coaching plan to help achieve that goal.

How it Works

If you have a particular project:
You send us your draft (or bring it with you if it’s five pages or less) and we’ll spend time with it, reading and critiquing. Then we’ll meet with you to go over our comments and suggestions.

We charge by the hour for both reading and meeting time. A good estimate is about three dollars per typed, double-spaced page for reading and critiquing. Then you can tell us if you’d like to schedule an additional face-to-face meeting.

If you want to improve your writing skills:
We’re always happy to develop an individualized Coaching Plan for writers who can’t make it to a class but still want to improve their overall communications.

An initial one-hour consultation includes a discussion of overall goals, specific skills that require improvement, and timeline for coaching sessions. From this consultation, we’ll develop a syllabus for you and provide homework assignments, course materials, readings, and grammar/punctuation help sheets.

Fees and Locations

Pre-Paid Five-session package: $475

Sessions may take in person at our studio in Chicago’s Ravenswood neighborhood, at our North Shore location in Winnetka (opening in February 2011), or by phone and email. We are happy to work with writers outside the Chicago area as well.

Payment is due in advance, or at the time of service. Coaching services are billed by the hour, with an initial one-hour minimum. Thereafter, services are billed in 15-minute increments.
