Web Writing: Content and Proposals

Description: These days a company—big or small—needs a website for communications and credibility. And these websites need to change on a regular basis to keep our visitors interested and informed.

Web Writing: Content and Proposals will walk you through the steps of Conceiving your web project and Writing the content. We’ll also talk about strategies for choosing vendors and software. During this one-day workshop you’ll learn the ins and outs of shaping your ideas, developing the information architecture, and how to write compelling copy that is useful and easy to use.

Morning Session: Concepts and Writing Copy

  • Information Architecture and approaches to breaking up content, how users will travel through the site, user interface.
  • Group Exercise
  • Writing for the Web

Afternoon Session: Content and Strategies for Technical Development
  • Developing ideas and ways to bring them to life.
  • Writing Exercise—preparing copy for your site
  • Workshop your copy—Receive critical feedback you can use to move forward.

About the Instructor: Tim has provided creative media services to an extensive client list since 1990. His work has received numerous awards and has appeared in many publications, web sites, and television broadcasts as well as at Chicago’s Museum of Contemporary Art. He has held positions on the board of the Association for Multimedia Communications, the Advisory Committees of the Illinois Institute of Art’s Animation and Interactive Media Departments, and the Interactive Media Department of Columbia College. Tim is the author of Managing Interactive Media Projects, an interactive media process guide from Cengage-Delmar Learning. Tim has facilitated workshops, seminars and presentations for the American Marketing Association, The Motion Graphics Festival, The Web Design Conference, The Arts and Business Council of Chicago and others. He has taught at Columbia College Chicago and Ascend Training since 1998.
