The Language of Love

Tuesday, February 7, 2012

Love. How many pieces of writing have you started—and discarded—trying to capture that maddening, mysterious thing? How many papers and computer screens have you hidden from view, even when alone, embarrassed by clichés?

In this single-session class, we’ll use poetry and fiction as prompts to find the right words for love, desire, and what drives people wild (or mad) about others. We’ll look to concrete imagery and metaphor for ways to compare these un-comparable feelings. Writers working on poetry, personal essay, or fiction (and yes, even a note to that admired someone) will benefit from experimenting with language in this course. Naturally, we will share some wine and cheese as a group while we tackle the topic.

Put your words where your heart is and join us for an evening of inspiration, wine, wordplay—and, of course, love!

Who Should Attend:

  • Adults, 18 and over
  • Writers of all levels are welcome
