Science Fiction & Fantasy
Description: With classics like The Lord of the Rings and 2001: A Space Odyssey and newer masterworks like Perdido Street Station, Jonathan Strange and Mr. Norrell, and Red Mars, speculative fiction serves as fertile ground for rich literature and imagination-stretching ideas.
The Science Fiction & Fantasy Workshop will look at some of the best authors in the field and learn from what they have done, but most of the focus will be on you: encouraging your efforts and helping you find (or hone) your writing voice. Whether you are hoping to build a career as a writer or are looking for a fulfilling hobby, this class will cover what you need to do and different ways to do it.
This group will meet once a month allowing students to push their drafts further between meetings. At each session, there will be a strong focus on workshopping student manuscripts as well as strengthening skills.
Who Should Attend: This course is open to writers at all levels, especially students who have previously taken Writing Science Fiction & Fantasy or completed Creative Writing I or Beginning Fiction.
