Money Management for Writers

Monday, November 8

Description: You’re a writer, not an accountant. Writing is hard enough without having to worry about money, taxes, deductions, 1099s, or your rising blood pressure when someone mentions the IRS. The typical tax preparer has a difficult time understanding the unique nature of a writer’s life—and more importantly, the writer’s business.

If you wish someone would just sit down with you for an hour or two and tell you what to do with your money, then don’t miss this unique class. Martin Kamenski of Rockstar CPA, will cover the ins and outs of money management for writers, answering all these questions and more. Some hot topics will include:

How do I track my expenses and income?
Should I be keeping all my receipts?
Should I be claiming writing as a hobby or business?
What kind of business am I?
What deductions can I claim?

Writer’s Roadmap
Writers of every level and genre are welcome in this class. It will be particularly useful to writers who wish to earn money from their writing, or those who want information about managing any potential tax implications from writing and studying writing.
