Making Room

Tuesday, July 13

Description: Anyone who has tried to make room in his or her life for Art knows that setting aside the time and space to pursue creative projects is no small task. But writing is as integral to the writer’s life as words themselves. And, sometimes, it is just as elusive.

This one-night workshop will provide practical strategies—in your house, in your head, and in your heart—so you can get to work! Stories, advice, and anecdotes from other authors will be plentiful, as will guidelines and exercises.

Writer’s Roadmap
Writers at every level and in every genre will benefit from this class.

About the Instructor: Elizabeth Wetmore is a 2002 graduate of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop and a 2006-2007 recipient of a grant from the National Endowment for the Arts, as well as several grants from the Illinois Arts Council. A recent story—“Listening for Grace”—appeared in the journal Salt Flats Annual and was nominated for a Pushcart Prize. Other stories have appeared in Hayden’s Ferry Review, Black Warrior Review, Crab Orchard Review, and other journals. She is currently at work on a novel set in West Texas and a collection of short stories set in Phoenix, Arizona.
