Description: Your own life is rich with potential for writing, but how do you transform memory into story? How do you get your life on the page?

In this class, we’ll examine the memoir genre, and explore the structures and strategies that help shape real-life experiences into moving stories. We’ll look at how memory is transformed into compelling writing and discuss the writing process and the decisions we make along the way.

About the Instructor: Annette Gendler is a creative nonfiction writer. Her work has appeared in Bellevue Literary Review, Under the Sun, South Loop Review and on flashquake.com. She holds an MFA in Creative Writing from Queens University of Charlotte. She lives in Hyde Park with her husband and three children.
