Begins Thursday, July 18, 2013, and meets monthly.
This class continues an exploration of memoir for returning students, and is open as well to those who have completed Writing Your Memoir or comparable courses.
We’ll look at how memory is transformed into compelling writing and discuss the writing process and the decisions we make along the way.
We meet once a month and read either a book-length memoir or a piece from a literary magazine that we discuss as a group. Aside from the book discussion, the majority of class time is spent workshopping student manuscripts. (After registration is completed, students will receive further instruction on how to prepare for this class.)
This course is limited to 10 students. Participants should have up to 25 pages of a manuscript to workshop and previous memoir workshop experience.
Who should attend?
This course is designed for those with experience writing and exposing their work in a writing workshop environment. To assure that workshop students are in the class that will be most beneficial to them, we ask that prospective students email us to send in up to 10 pages of a working draft. StoryStudio will then determine if the Advanced Memoir Workshop or another course would be the best fit.
