We love stories and the people who tell them.

StoryStudio Chicago is a growing community of writers building Chicago's premier center for writing and related arts. StoryStudio Chicago focuses on creative writing classes, stimulating discussion, live performance and creating space for writers to talk about writing. We're always looking for opportunities to help you tell your stories better and to a broader audience.

Our students come from all walks of life, all ages, and all kinds of writing experience. Our classes and workshops meet at our studio, located at 4043 N. Ravenswood, Chicago. It's easy to get to, easy to park near and offers great karma to get your creative juices going!

The Official Mission Statement

Our mission is to foster confidence and creativity in writing and storytelling through teaching, discussion, performance and community building. Writers and performers of all levels—from beginners to professionals—are invited to participate.

Who is StoryStudio?

Jill Pollack started StoryStudio in 2003 for purely selfish reasons. "I wanted a place where I could meet and study and hang out with other writers," says Pollack. "For all of Chicago's success in the arts, there was no central organization for those of us who depend on reading and writing to keep our sanity."

Want to Get Involved?

StoryStudio's success depends on writers like you to get involved. Take a course, teach a course, attend a book discussion, sign up for our newsletter, or just contact us to say you're interested.

Need to Stop By?

We're usually here between 10am and 2pm, Monday through Thursday. We're also open from 5:30pm and 9pm on weeknights and 10am to 12:30pm on Saturdays when we're running classes. Sometimes, though, classes get cancelled at the last minute, unexpected meetings arise, and all sorts of hijinks ensue to keep us out of the studio. If you need to get into StoryStudio for any reason (other than a scheduled class), please call first to confirm we're open. 773.477.7710.
